Lee's Obituary

McGREGOR, Leon (Lee) Malcolm It is with heavy hearts that his family report the passing of Lee on Saturday, July 26, 2014. Born in Victoria, May 11, 1936. Predeceased by his first wife, Jean; father, Charles and mother, Margaret. Survived by his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Leanne; brother, Dave and two cats, Tiberius and Claudius, plus many other family members. Lee had battled cancer for six years from original diagnosis, continuing to live a full, active and happy life, refusing to give up. He had a great spirit and was a very brave man and an inspiration to many others. Lee was a very thoughtful man, with a great sense of humour, his primary concern was always for his wife and daughter and he also loved our many pets dearly over the years. He was a hard worker, a DIY man, a visionary and never happier than when he had a project to work on. Lee enjoyed travelling and boating and of course, ballroom dancing. Lee was a very prominent and popular ballroom dance instructor in Victoria and will be well-remembered by his many hundreds of dance students, who have all commented on how much they appreciated his kind, patient and thorough instruction. We always felt very lucky to be able to share our love of dancing with each other and with so many other people. We have made many wonderful friends through dance. We extend a heartfelt thank you to our family and friends for your many expressions of support, concern and offers to help during a difficult time. It has been very uplifting to know that Lee was so well thought of by so many people and that he touched so many lives in such a positive way. We appreciated every single thought, e-mail, card and personal visit. We feel truly blessed in the midst of our sorrow. How fortunate we were to have had this amazing man in our lives and to have been able to care for him in his final days. Lee had always expressed a wish to die at home, surrounded by his loved ones and we were honoured to be able to fulfill that wish for him. He is at peace now with the Lord and his parents and Leanne's mum and we know that one day we will be re-united. We are particularly grateful for the incredible support that we received through the Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation. the Mt. Newton Loan Department and Fr. Rolf Hasenack, OP, for his very compassionate and comforting spiritual care of Lee. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any of the above mentioned. A funeral to commemorate Lee will be held on Friday, August 8th at 1:30 pm at Saanich Baptist Church, 4347 Wilkinson Rd. The reception will be in the form of a dance in Lee's honour at Saanich Commonwealth Place that evening, commencing at 6:30 to which all are invited.
